We wanted to share an update on the future of The Seven Tuns, our much-loved village pub, and clarify where things currently stand.
As you may have seen in the most recent Wilts and Glos newspaper article, the Seven Tuns is now officially on the market with national agents Colliers, for £800,000 or available to let. It has been closed for nearly two years.
Our group, the Seven Tuns Action Group (STAG), was formed to explore options to get the pub open again, and we remain committed to that goal.
We want to secure the pub’s long-term future, and we will be ready to act. We haven’t as yet submitted a bid as the price is too high but we’re ready to launch a community share offer, seeking philanthropic support, and continuing to work closely with national advisors such as Plunkett UK.
The Wilts and Glos article correctly highlighted some key challenges:
“The pub has closed three times in the last ten years. Post-Covid trading conditions and rising costs make community ownership the most realistic way for village pubs to survive.”
But it also highlighted the opportunity:
“The Seven Tuns could provide more than just a pint — a place to meet, to reduce loneliness, and to bring life back to the heart of the village.”
Our view is simple: we want the pub back in use, thriving, and adding value to village life.
We will keep you updated — and if a point comes when community fundraising is needed, we will let you know right away.
